How To Reduce Back Pain

How To Reduce Back Pain

Here are tips to help you reduce back pain at night:

Upgrade your mattress

An old springy mattress can add strain to your back. But it doesn’t mean a firm mattress is the best solution either. To keep your spine aligned it would be most beneficial to look into a Medium Firm Orthopedic Mattress. Replace your mattress every eight years for optimal firmness or get a mattress topper for support when it starts to sag.

Heat things up

The heat will help loosen up your stiff muscles and can reduce pain. A heating pad, warm shower or bath can soothe stiff sore muscles before bed. Just be sure to turn off the heat pad before you fall asleep to avoid any burns.

Become a back sleeper

It may seem unusual but the best position to sleep for back pain would be on your back. To keep pressure off your spine it’s best to add a pillow beneath your back. For those that are side sleepers, it will be best to pull your legs halfway toward your chest and put a pillow in between your legs for support. Avoid sleeping on your stomach as it can increase pain and put more pressure on your spine.
